What are the bottles made of?
Our bottles are made of food-grade 304 18/8 stainless steel. Stainless steel is non-reactive, dishwasher-safe, and recyclable. Our bottles have no varnish or other chemicals on food-contact surfaces.
What pumps do they fit with?
Standard Spectra S1/S2, Cimilre, Motif, Hygeia, and any other pumps that use the same wide-mouth threading system!
Lansinoh and Pigeon are on a different threading system, and an adapter is required.
Our bottles are not compatible with wearable pumps like the Willow and Elvie.
What about feeding and nipples?
Our bottles are compatible with nipple collars from Avent Natural, Avent Classic, Minbie, Maymom (wide-mouth), and Pumpables.
We recommend using the same brand for both the nipple and nipple collar: some folks see success mixing and matching, while others experience major leakage.
Why are the numbers printed backwards?
You might notice when you first open your bottles that the numbers appear to be “backwards.” Since stainless steel is opaque, you do have to look inside the bottle to see how much milk you’ve pumped. When you read the stamped numbers from the inside of the bottle, they will face forwards!
How do you tell how much you've pumped?
When you’re pumping, it can be tempting to sit and watch your milk fall into the bottle drip by drip. But if you ask a lactation consultant, they’ll likely recommend that you relax and maybe look at photos or videos of your baby instead. One lactation consultant we know even recommends putting a sock over clear bottles when you are pumping, because she finds it can actually reduce anxiety and increase volume!
How do you tell when the bottle is full?
Throughout your pumping session, you can simply glance in from the top. As the bottles get full, you'll be able to see the milk from the top. When they are all the way full, you'll suddenly stop hearing the milk dripping with every pump - just like you do with plastic bottles.
Why are they so expensive?
You may be used to plastic bottles retailing around $7 - this is how much insurance will generally reimburse for a plastic bottle. Stainless steel bottles are more expensive to produce, and in turn are more durable.

Where are your bottles made?
Our bottles are made in China. A third-party lab in the United States has verified their nontoxic status by testing for heavy metals.
