Moving Beyond Plastic
In 2026, we know that a plastic-based life is unsustainable. We can taste the flavor of plastic when we drink out of plastic bottles and eat off of plastic dishes. We read headlines and reports from endocrinologists that plastics expose us to microplastics and plasticizers that impact our hormone pathways.
Meanwhile, our breast pump manufacturers are including plastic bottles as an afterthought with our doctor-prescribed pumps. In small print, you can find recommendations that they be washed by hand (to reduce the harmful chemicals that the high temperatures and rough detergents release in the dishwasher), rinsed in cold water (to remove the microplastics and chemicals that are released), and replaced every three months as the plastic degradation process accelerates.
So why are we still pumping into these bottles at all?
About Us
As moms ourselves, we realized we had both spent a lot of time and energy pumping breastmilk into lightweight plastic bottles and convenient plastic bags that ultimately left us with questions about toxin exposure.
When we realized that there was no way to buy a plastic-free pumping bottle, we decided to do something about it. And Better Baby Care was born.
